If we have the opportunity to work together as coach and client, you will find that the conversation is all about you. My focus is on getting to know you: your values, dreams, gifts and needs. Together, we’ll formulate goals to move your life in the direction you choose. I’ll bring to the work my training from The Coaches Training Institute, and will integrate ideas from my training in The Daring Way ™, based on the bestselling book Daring Greatly by Brené Brown. I will also bring to the coaching relationship my lifetime of experiences, including successfully creating a life filled with joy and meaning after the death of my husband, moving to a new country, and developing a rich and satisfying encore career.
I found this delightful sign in the Peruvian Amazon, where I was traveling.
Translation: “The fulfillment of our goals, objectives and perhaps our dreams depends on the heart and the power that we put into each thing we do.” Even in the heart of the Amazon, people are longing to live an authentic life, and willing to invest in their dreams.
I have been told that the best way to be really successful as a coach is to decide what my niche is: who do I most like to work with? But I’ve found that to be impossible, because I love the variety of working with all kinds of people. I have had great fun with young clients who are seeking a more meaningful life–their willingness to try new things and their commitment to change are so energizing!
Yet I also love helping people on one side or the other of retirement (I like to call it “rewirement”) move into a life that is rich and full of purpose. The old models of a leisure-filled retirement no longer fit many baby boomers, who are often looking forward to 20 or 30 active years beyond traditional work. I help them increase their self-awareness, identify their values and goals, open up possibilities and try on new perspectives. Through my one-on-one coaching and workshops, I love empowering people of all ages and life stages to make the changes they really want. As far as I know, we have only one “kick at the can” in this thing called life, and I thrive on helping anyone who’s ready to make the most of it!
